Kieboom homers in Senators 6-2 loss to Richmond
For the first time in six meetings this season, the Harrisburg Senators dropped a game to the Richmond Flying Squirrels in a 6-2 loss Sunday afternoon at The Diamond. The Senators (29-26) won the first two games of the weekend to pick up the series victory.
The Senators struck first Sunday as catcher Spencer Kieboom hit a long home run to left field – his third of the season – to afford Harrisburg a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. After Richmond tied the game in the bottom of the second inning, Rafael Bautista singled then stole second and third base before scoring on an Isaac Ballou sacrifice fly. With the two steals Sunday, Bautista upped his Eastern League lead to 29 stolen bases.
Austen Williams worked the first five innings for the Senators, allowing four runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out two batters. A three-run fifth inning by the Flying Squirrels put them on top for good.
In his third appearance on MLB rehab, Matt Belisle allowed a run in the sixth inning. Derek Self pitched a scoreless seventh inning, and in his Senators’ debut, Michael Brady struck out the side in the eighth inning but allowed a run.
The Senators are off on Monday before beginning a seven-game homestand Tuesday against Hartford at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on Fox Sports 1460, on the Internet through senatorsbaseball.com, through TuneIn or through iHeart Radio.
