Game Notes

  • Pitching matchup – Harrisburg: RHP Phillips Valdez (0-1, 7.94) at Reading: RHP Nick Pivetta (6-4, 3.67).
  • Phillips Valdez makes his second start as a Senator, looking to improve on his first outing in which he allowed five earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. All five runs were scored in the first two innings before Valdez settled in and battled to a no-decision. The right-hander threw 108 pitches – the most in an outing by a Senator this season.
  • Former Senator Nick Pivetta makes his third career start against his old team tonight. Pivetta has nearly been untouchable against Harrisburg in one start last season and one earlier this season, allowing just four hits in 11.2 shutout innings with 15 strikeouts. Pivetta was traded to the Phillies last season for Jonathan Papelbon.
  • The Senators have three players with an OPS (on-base plus slugging) over .900 – Shawn Pleffner (.991), Chris Bostick (.937) and Neftali Soto (.908).
