The Eastern League announced today that Harrisburg Senators’ RHP Tyler Mapes has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 13th – June 19th. It is Mapes first EL Pitcher of the Week. It’s the second week in a row a Senators starter has earned the award as Lucas Giolito was awarded the honor last Monday.

Tyler started one game for the Senators last week and had a record of 1-0 with four strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. He made his lone appearance of the week on Wednesday night at Trenton and pitched his first career complete game in Harrisburg’s 1-0 victory over the Thunder. He allowed just five baserunners on three singles, one walk and one hit batter, while striking out four over nine innings. With his performance last week Mapes improved his record to 6-4 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.90, which ranks ninth in the league. He also currently ranks second in the league in WHIP (1.05) and fourth in batting average against (.223).

Tyler was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 30th round of the 2014 draft after going 5-5 with a 2.20 ERA in 13 starts during his senior season at Tulane University.
