Senators News: Giolito Headed to Washington; Suero Activated

As announced by the Washington Nationals today, the contract of RHP Lucas Giolito has been selected by the Nationals and he will start Tuesday night’s game against the New York Mets. RHP Wander Suero has been activated from the temporary inactive list.

Giolito made 14 starts with the Senators, going 5-3 with a 3.17 ERA — the ninth-best mark in the Eastern League. He struck out 72 batters and walked 34 in 71.0 innings. Giolito was especially good of late, pitching to a 2.41 ERA in his final nine starts with the Senators as he struck out 55 batters in 52.1 innings. He is currently the No. 1 prospect in all of minor league baseball, according to MLB.com and ESPN.com.
