Senators Roster Moves: Whiting activated, De Fratus joins Sens
In conjunction with the Washington Nationals, the Harrisburg Senators announced today that RHP Boone Whiting has been activated from the disabled list. Whiting is slated to start tonight against Richmond.
Joining the Senators is RHP Justin De Fratus, who was signed by the Nationals and assigned to Harrisburg.
Whiting is 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA in his first three starts with the Senators. He left his last start early on July 14 after taking a line drive to the lower right leg.
De Fratus, 28, will be making his second appearance in the Eastern League, having pitched for Reading in 2010 and 2011. He has appeared in 191 career Major League games with the Phillies, posting a 4.08 ERA in 194 innings over the past five seasons. His best season came in 2014, when he had a 2.39 ERA in 54 games with the Phillies.
So far in 2016, De Fratus has pitched in 29 games with the AAA affiliates of Seattle and Texas. He has pitched to a 2.89 ERA in 37.1 innings.
