Game Notes

  • Pitching Matchup: Hartford: RHP German Marquez (9-5, 2.69) vs. Harrisburg: RHP Jaron Long (3-2, 2.22)
  • Jaron Long returns to the Senators rotation tonight for the first time since June 1, where he was fantastic earlier this season. Long allowed more than two earned runs just once in eight starts with the Senators before being promoted to Triple-A Syracuse. In nine games (eight starts) with the Chiefs, Long was 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA.

  • German Marquez, the Eastern League leader in strikeouts with 110, is coming off one of his best starts of the season, in which he threw eight shutout innings in a win over Reading. Marquez has allowed five earned runs in 19 innings (three starts) against Harrisburg this season.
  • The Senators clinched their sixth consecutive series win Wednesday, winning a back-and-forth affair over New Hampshire, 5-4.
  • Hartford is Harrisburg’s most popular Eastern Division opponents, as the Senators will play the Yard Goats 22 times this season with 13 meetings remaining. Hartford has won six of the first nine games between the two teams, outscoring Harrisburg, 45-28.
  • Kevin Keyes hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the seventh inning of Wednesday’s win over New Hampshire. It was the first homer for Keyes since June 24.
