Valdez Sharp as Sens Beat the B-Mets 6-1
Ward and Ballou each hit two-run home runs
Phillips Valdez went seven strong innings and the Senators offense came alive in their 6-1 win over the Binghamton Mets Tuesday night in Binghamton. The Senators scored four in the second and two more in the fourth to cruise to the win. Harrisburg moved to ten games over .500 at 60-50 while the B-Mets fell to 50-59.
Valdez didn’t run into any trouble until the seventh when the B-Mets scored, but left the bases loaded. He allowed six hits, struck out two, walked two and eleven ground ball outs. Valdez is now 4-2 with the Senators and Harrisburg has won his last four starts.
In the second, Jose Marmolejos singled which was followed by a Drew Ward two-run home run giving the Senators a 2-0 lead. Harrisburg plated two more runs in the inning on RBI singles by Rafael Bautista and Andrew Stevenson. The lead was stretched to 6-0 when Isaac Ballou hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Marmolejos had three hits for the Senators and every Senator starter except Adrian Sanchez had a hit.
Sam Runion pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game for the Sens.
