  • Pitching Matchups:
    • Senators: RH Phillips Valdez (4-4, 5.37) vs. Hartford: LH Sam Howard (5-6, 4.41)
  • Sam Howard is on the hill for the Yard Goats today. The 23-year-old was selected by the Rockies in the third round of the 2014 draft out of Georgia Southern. The #21 ranked prospect in the Rockies organization according to mlb.com is 9-9 this year with a 3.47 ERA between Modesto and Hartford. He was a Mid-Season All-Star for the California League. Howard was promoted to Hartford on June 9. He’s made four quality starts for Hartford including his last two outings. His last time out he tossed six shutout innings against Trenton. He’s been outstanding since the all-star break, going 5-1 with a 2.79 ERA in seven starts. Originally selected in the 48th round of the 2011 draft by the Cubs out of high school but didn’t sign.
  • The Senators open their final road trip of the season today in New Hampshire with game one of a four-game series in three day series against the Hartford Yard Goats. The two teams played at the end of July here in New Hampshire with Hartford taking three out of four.
  • The Senators 4-3 win over Altoona last night was their eighth walk-off win this season and first since the end of July.
