Senators Rally But Fall Short to Bowie 7-6
Five run ninth puts a scare in Baysox
On Monday night in Bowie, the Senators trailed 7-1 into the ninth, rallied to score five runs, but fell short in a 7-6 loss to Bowie. The Sens loss, coupled with Akron’s 4-2 over Erie, means the Senators are now 2 ½ games behind Akron with eight games to go.
Trailing 7-1 into the ninth, the Senators sent 10 batters to the plate and had RBIs from Adrian Sanchez, Nick Rickles, Rafael Bautista and a two-run two-out single by Wilmer Difo. Kevin Keyes, a hero twice last week, bounced out with two outs and two on to end the game.
The Senators scored first on an RBI single by Keyes in the first giving the Senators a 1-0 lead for starter Tyler Mapes. Bowie though scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings off Mapes. Leading 3-1 into the seventh, Bowie scored four times off Derek Self including a three-run home run by Quincy Latimore.
Bautista and Isaac Ballou both had two hits in the game for the Senators.
Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. with RH Phillips Valdez on the mound for the Senators.
