Senators Announce 2017 Opening Day Roster
Team Features Five Top 30 Prospects
Harrisburg, PA – The Harrisburg Senators, in conjunction with the Washington Nationals, have released the player roster for the 2017 season. The roster features seventeen players that have already appeared in a Senators uniform. The team is led in their 31st season on the island by Matt LeCroy, returning for a fourth season as the Senators manager.
The list of players features five of the organizations’ top-30 prospects per Baseball America including starting pitcher Eric Fedde (#2), OF Andrew Stevenson (#5), infielders Drew Ward (#12) and Osvaldo Abreu (#21) and catcher Raudy Reed (#22). Of the 25 players on the opening day roster, 17 players have appeared with the Senators before and 17 and have been with the Nationals their entire career.
Opening Day for the Senators is April 6 with a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Altoona Curve at FNB Field. The gates open to the ballpark at 5:45 p.m. The evening begins with a ribbon cutting at the front gates to FNB Field at 5:45 p.m. sharp.
Matt LeCroy returns for a fourth season as the manager of the Senators. He’s joined by pitching coach Chris Michalak who is also returning for a fourth season. Brian Rupp returns for his second season as the Senators hitting coach. Trainer Eric Montague is back for a fourth season while the team welcomes first year strength and conditioning coach RJ Guyer.
