Game 7 vs. Hartford: Lineup and Notes
The Senators finish out the homestand and try for the series win against Hartford on Wednesday afternoon. The Yard Goats evened the series Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory as the Senators were shutout for the first time this season. The Senators went 11-11 against the Yard Goats last season, and 7-5 in games at FNB Field.
STELLAR STARTING PITCHING
Five of the first six Senators starting pitchers have allowed two earned runs or less, highlighted by Greg Ross tossing six shutout innings and limiting the Yard Goats to three hits in the series opener against Hartford. Tuesday starter John Simms became the third consecutive Senators pitcher to last six innings while allowing two runs or less.
The Senators send Jaron Long to the mound in the series finale, opposite Yard Goats starter Jack Wynkoop. Long was the Senators opening day starter against Altoona, and suffered the loss after allowing four runs, just one earned, over five innings. The right-hander started one game against the Yard Goats last season, and allowed just two runs across six innings. Wynkoop earned the win against Richmond in his first start of the season, tossing six and a third innings of one run ball. The former 6th round draft pick is in his fourth professional season after he split time between low-A Asheville and high-A Modesto in 2016, finishing 13-5 with a 3.11 ERA across 28 starts between the two levels.
