Game 8 at Bowie: Lineup and Notes
The Senators embark on their first road trip of the season, beginning with a three game set against the Bowie Baysox. The Sens won the rubber match against Hartford 6-0, carried by a two-run home run by Spencer Kieboom and six shutout innings from starter Jaron Long. Bowie begins the year 4-3 and lost two out of three to Erie in the prior series. The Baysox are led by an explosive offense, hitting a league-high .327 with 11 home runs through the first seven games.
Five Senators have recorded hits in at least four consecutive ballgames. Drew Ward paces the group, as he extended his hitting streak to seven with a pinch hit single in Wednesday’s 6-0 win. Yadiel Hernandez has a five game hitting streak after going 2-4 with a 3 RBI double in the series finale. Neftali Soto, Andrew Stevenson and Alec Keller all have hits in four consecutive games.
TONIGHT’S STARTING PITCHERS
Right-hander Erick Fedde takes the mound for the Senators, matched up against Baysox left hander John Means. Fedde, the 52nd ranked prospect in baseball according to Baseball America, comes off a start where he allowed just one earned run across five innings during the club’s 6-4 victory in game one of a doubleheader on April 8 against Altoona. Means tossed six innings of one run ball in his first start of the year at Akron. The 2014 11th round pick out of West Virginia is the 26th ranked prospect in the Orioles system according to MLB.com.
