Game 23 vs. Trenton: Lineup and Notes
The Senators play game two of a three game series against the Trenton Thunder Tuesday night. The Senators look to stop a season long three game losing skid after they dropped the series opener 7-0. The Thunder scored all seven runs in the fourth inning en route to the victory. The Senators went 3-6 versus the Thunder last season, and 2-4 in games at ARM & HAMMER Park.
STEADY STARTING PITCHING
After giving up six runs in three and two-thirds innings Monday night, Erick Fedde became the first Senators starting pitcher to allow more than four runs in a start this season. Nine of the last 11 Senators starting pitchers have not allowed more than three runs in a start and have limited the opposition to three runs or less in 19 of the 22 starts this season.
TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS
Austen Williams makes the start for the Senators in game two of the three game set. Williams has not pitched since April 21 against Bowie, where he scattered two runs and five hits over six strong innings. Williams has gone at least five innings and has not allowed more than three runs in any of his first three starts. The right-hander is 1-2 this year with a 3.71 ERA. He will be matched up against Trenton starter Yefry Ramirez. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 3.27 ERA in four starts on the season. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native threw six shutout and three hit innings against New Hampshire in his last start. Ramirez was originally signed by Arizona in 2011 and was selected in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft by the Yankees on December 10, 2015.
