Game 25 vs. Hartford: Lineup and Notes
The Senators begin a seven game homestand Thursday night against the Hartford Yard Goats. The Senators come into play on a season high five game losing streak and suffered their first sweep of the season against Trenton. The Thunder used a six-run fourth inning to cruise to the 6-0 victory in the series finale. The Senators and Yard Goats play their third series of the season and second at FNB field. The Senators are 4-2 against Hartford on the season, including taking two of three in Hartford in the last series the two clubs played 4/17-4/20.
The Senators return home for their second seven game homestand of the season. After the current homestand, the team will play 11 of its next 14 games on the road, with its only home series a three-game set against Bowie May 16-19. The Senators are 6-6 at FNB field and 4-8 on the road through just over a month of play this season.
TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS
The Senators send John Simms to the mound in the homestand opener against Hartford. Simms is 1-2 this season with a 2.91 ERA in four starts, two of which have come against the Yard Goats. The right-hander started the first two games of the season versus the Yard Goats, once at FNB Field and once at Dunkin Donuts Park, and allowed four runs in 10.2 innings combined between the two starts. Simms took the loss in his last start on April 28 at Altoona, despite throwing a quality start and limiting the Curve to four hits in his six innings. Simms will be matched up against Hartford starter Parker French. The right-hander is making his first start of the season against the Senators and is 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA in four starts this season. French suffered the loss in his last start versus Richmond, surrendering five runs over four innings. The Austin, Texas native is the 24th ranked prospect in the Rockies organization according to MLB.com and is in his first season with the Yard Goats.
