Senators Roster Moves: Robinson, Rickles, Eitel, Hill assigned to Harrisburg; Collier and Valdez to DL; Johansen and Blackmar released
The following transactions have taken place today affecting the roster of the Harrisburg Senators:
Catcher Nick Rickles along with pitchers Derek Eitel and Andrew Robinson (pictured) were assigned to Harrisburg from Extended Spring Training. Additionally, pitcher Taylor Hill was reassigned to the Senators from Triple-A Syracuse.
Rickles batted .227 with four homers in 24 games for Harrisburg last season.
Eitel was signed by the Nationals as a minor league free agent prior to the 2017 season. The 6’4″ right-hander spent last year with Triple-A El Paso pitching out of the bullpen to a 5-1 record and 3.67 ERA in 54 appearances.
Robinson excelled last season on City Island as he saved nine games, won four, and compiled a 2.01 ERA and 1.011 WHIP in 35 games.
Hill returns to Harrisburg after struggling this season in Syracuse. Previously the right-hander was here for part of 2013 where he went 2-7 with a 2.71 ERA in 11 starts.
The corresponding moves are assigning outfielder Zach Collier and reliever Phillips Valdez to the disabled list. Also, pitchers Jake Johansen and Mark Blackmar were released by the Nationals organization.
