TODAY’S GAME

The Senators embark on a seven-game road trip beginning Friday night in Richmond, Virginia as they play a three-game series against the Flying Squirrels. The Senators fell 9-2 in the rubber match of their three game series with Bowie in their last game on Thursday morning. This is the first meeting of the season between the Senators and Squirrels. The teams will play a total of 20 games this season, ten at FNB Field.

SELF-EXPLANATORY

After working another three scoreless frames, Derek Self has not allowed a run over his last 10.2 innings which spans his previous five appearances. The right-hander has limited the opposition to just seven baserunners on six hits and a walk over that stretch.

TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS

Austen Williams gets the start in the series opener against the Flying Squirrels. The right-hander is 1-4 with a 6.37 ERA across seven starts this season. Williams suffered the loss in his last start on May 12 at Trenton after surrendering four runs in six innings. The 24-year-old started twice against Richmond in 2016 and allowed four runs in five innings in each of his two starts. The Squirrels counter with starter Cory Taylor. The right-hander is 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA over seven games and six starts on the season. Taylor limited Bowie to two hits in five shutout innings in his last start on May 13. The 23-year-old is the 20th ranked prospect in the San Francisco organization according to MLB.com. He was drafted in the 8th round of the 2015 draft from Dallas Baptist.
