Game 41 vs. Richmond: Lineup and Notes
The Senators and Flying Squirrels meet in the rubber match of the three game series on Sunday afternoon. The Senators evened the series with a 5-3 victory Saturday night, highlighted by a three-run home run by Jose Marmolejos This is the first series of the season between the Senators and Squirrels. The teams will play a total of 20 games this season, ten at FNB Field.
Reliever Wander Suero notched his sixth save in game two of the series, tying him for fifth most in the Eastern League. The right-hander has allowed just one run and struck out 13 over his past 13 innings, which spans his last ten appearances.
TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS
The Senators send Jaron Long to the bump in the series finale on Sunday. The right-hander is 3-4 with a 3.02 ERA this season, the lowest mark among all Senators starters. Long allowed five runs in three innings in his last start against Bowie on May 16, his shortest outing of the season. It’s the first time Long has allowed more than three earned runs in any of his eight starts this season. Long is opposed by Flying Squirrels starter Jordan Johnson. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 2.26 ERA in seven games and five starts this season, the fifth lowest ERA among qualified pitchers in the Eastern League. Johnson was originally drafted by San Francisco in the 24th round of the 2014 draft out of Cal St. Northridge.
