Game 45 vs. Erie: Lineup and Notes
The Senators finish off the seven game road trip Thursday morning against Erie. The Senators try for their second consecutive series victory, after they took game three thanks to a seventh inning go-ahead home run by Neftali Soto. The Senators and SeaWolves finish their second series of the year, as Erie took two out of three from the Senators on May 8-May 10 at FNB field in the first meeting.
With the win on Wednesday, the Senators clinched their first winning road trip of the season, capping off a stretch where they have played 11 of 14 games away from FNB Field. When the Senators return home on Friday, they enter a stretch where 13 of their next 16 games are at home.
TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS
John Simms starts for the Senators in the series finale. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 3.20 ERA in eight starts this season. Simms earned the win in his last start on May 20 after limiting Richmond to two runs over six innings and tying a season-high by throwing 92 pitches. The 25-year-old has thrown a quality start in five of his eight starts this year and has not allowed more than three runs. Simms is opposed by starter Artie Lewicki. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 4.54 ERA in eight starts this year. Lewicki allowed one run over five innings in his first start of the year against the Senators on May 14 at FNB Field. The Ridgewood, New Jersey native was drafted in the eight round of the 2014 draft from the University of Virginia.
