Games 53 & 54 vs. Erie: Lineup and Notes
The Senators and SeaWolves play a doubleheader on Saturday to make up a postponed game from May 25.The Senators are 2-4 in doubleheaders this season while Erie is 5-1. The Senators were shutout for the fifth time this season after the SeaWolves won the series opener 4-0. The club is 3-4 against the SeaWolves this season, as each team traded three-game series wins at the opposition’s ballpark in the first two series.
The Senators made numerous changes to the roster over the past week First, outfielder Yadiel Hernandez was placed on the temporary inactive list and infielder Corban Joseph was added to the roster from Syracuse. Joseph finished 0-3 in his Senators debut on Friday. Next, starting pitcher Austen Williams was placed on the 7-day disabled list and pitcher Matthew Crownover was promoted to the Senators from Potomac. The left-hander is slated to start in the series finale on Sunday. Finally, reliever Wander Suero was promoted to Syracuse and reliever Braulio Lara was reinstated from the temporary inactive list. The Senators have now used 36 players this season.
TODAY’S STARTING PITCHERS
Derek Eitel starts game one of the doubleheader for the Senators. Eitel threw six shutout and one hit innings against Richmond in his last start on May 29. Erie counters with starter Myles Jaye. The right-hander is 0-4 with a 4.22 ERA this year and he tossed six shutout innings in his last start against the Senators on May 12. The Senators send Derek Self to the mound in game two. Self is making the first start of his career after having pitched solely out of the bullpen for the first five seasons of his career. The right-hander is opposed by Erie spot starter AJ Achter. The right-hander has a 5.06 ERA in 13 games out of the bullpen and is making his fifth start since 2012.
