Game 83 vs. Akron: Lineup and Notes

The Senators welcome the Akron RubberDucks to Harrisburg for the July 4th holiday. This is the first of two trips Akron makes to FNB Field this season, with the second coming on the final home series of the year. The Senators enter play having lost three in a row to Binghamton, dropping the four game series. The ‘Ducks are coming off a split of a four game series against Bowie. Akron sits in first place in the Eastern League Western Division, while the Senators are in fifth place at nine games back. The RubberDucks took two out of three from the Senators in the first series of the season between the two clubs June 13-15.


Since returning from the disabled list on June 30, Corban Joseph is 4-8 with two RBI and a run scored. The former Yankee prospect is hitting .425 (17-40) with two doubles, a home run and 11 RBI over his past 11 games, which includes games played before he was injured on June 17.


Kyle McGowin starts on Independence Day for the Senators. The right-hander is making his fourth start in a Senators uniform after losing his first three starts where he allowed 19 runs over fifteen innings. The 25-year-old began the season with Triple-A Syracuse where he posted a 1-6 record with a 6.31 ERA before being added to the Senators roster.

McGowin is opposed by starter Matt Whitehouse. The left-hander is 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA in 16 games and seven starts with Akron this season. Whitehouse has also appeared in two games and started one game with Triple-A Columbus. The 26-year-old was originally drafted by Cleveland in the 19th round of the 2013 draft from UC Irvine.
