Game 93 at Altoona: Lineup and Notes

TODAY’S GAME

The Senators finish the seven game road trip with a three game series against the Altoona Curve. The Senators split their first four games post-All-Star break against Richmond, dropping the series finale 6-2 Sunday afternoon. Altoona enters play having lost three of four in their previous series against first place Bowie. The Senators are 4-6 against Altoona this season after the Curve took two of three from the club June 6 to June 8 at FNB Field. The two teams play one more time after the series in a four game set to finish the regular season.

STARTING THINGS OFF

Senators starting pitchers on the active roster (not including players on the disabled list) have a 2.92 ERA over 11 starts and 64.2 innings during the month of July. Senators pitchers have allowed more than three earned runs just once over the 11 starts.

CORDERO’S IMPROVEMENT

Jimmy Cordero tossed two perfect innings in the series finale against Richmond, continuing his solid season since early May. The right-hander allowed four or more runs in four straight outings at the end of April however since May 1st, which spans the 23 games and 33 innings, Cordero is 2-2 with a 2.18 ERA and opponents are hitting just .190 against him over that stretch.

STARTING PITCHERS

Austin Voth makes his first appearance for the Senators this season in the series opener against Altoona. The right-hander went 1-7 with a 6.38 ERA across 13 starts with Triple-A Syracuse before being placed on the disabled list on June 25. The 25-year-old pitched for the Senators in both 2014 and 2015 before spending all of 2016 with Syracuse.

The Curve counter with starter Cody Dickson. The left-hander is 0-2 with a 10.97 ERA in three starts with Altoona this season. Dickson spent the first part of the year with triple-A Indianapolis, where he went 4-3 with a 4.02 ERA in 19 games and five starts before he was added to the Altoona roster June 24. The 25-year-old is in his second season with the Curve after he spent all of the 2016 season with the club. Dickson was originally drafted in the 4th round of the 2013 draft out of Sam Houston State.
