Senators Roster Moves: Harper and Long Promoted

The following player transactions have taken place affecting the roster of the Harrisburg Senators:

RHP Jaron Long and LHP Bryan Harper have been assigned to Syracuse and RHP Greg Ross and RHP Robert Benincasa have been assigned to Harrisburg.

Long and Harper have both been fantastic for the Senators. Long, 24, is currently fourth in the Eastern League in ERA at 2.22 in 44.2 innings. He had walked just nine while striking out 31.

Harper, 26, has been equally as good, posting a 1.50 ERA in 24 innings. He has appeared in a team-high 20 games and led the Senators with six saves in seven tries. His most recent appearance with the Senators was a 1-2-3 ninth in Richmond where he struck out the side.

Ross is new to the Senators as he was signed earlier this year by the Nationals, and appeared in 10 games (four starts) with Potomac. The right-hander from Frostburg State University has posted a 1.45 ERA in 31 innings. Ross will start for the Senators on Tuesday.

Benincasa returns to the Senators having spent time with Harrisburg in 2014 and 2015. The reliever had a 3.10 ERA and seven saves in 25 games with the Senators in 2014 and had three scoreless appearances with Harrisburg in 2015 before suffering a season-ending injury.

“Harper, 26, has been equally as good,”

That’s “equally good” not “equally as good”
